The Kathryn
Barnett School of Dance is dedicated to teaching life skills and
appreciation of the arts through dance. All programs at the Kathryn
Barnett School of Dance are geared toward age, experience, and
performance:

At the Studio, “It’s
All About the Kids!” with children learning dance and developing inner
character and strengths through their experience with the performing arts.
The teachers at the Studio provide an environment for the children to
grow and discover their inner creative spirit. Studio dancers
perform in an Annual Recital and the award-winning Barnett Traveling
Troupe participates in a wide variety of events throughout the year.
In the 2008-2009 school year, the Kathryn Barnett School of Dance
celebrated 25 years of dance. Kathryn Barnett joined Leah Mauer,
the original owner of the Studio, in the late seventies and purchased the
Studio from her mentor in 1983 seeing enrollment increase to over 250
students today. “Dance has grown and changed by leaps and bounds since
then.” In addition to studio classes, the Kathryn Barnett School
of Dance provides an outreach program including dance and movement classes
at The Red Bank Charter School and First Friends Nursery school.
A Family Affair
Kristen, Jaimie, and
Jessica Berube ... In the StarBound National Competition in Atlantic
City, two older sisters choreographed younger sister and won 6th place
high score dance with "Make It Mine".

Who's Who Among American
Dance Teachers
in
1998, 2000, and 2004
Soloists Jaimie Berube (Little
Silver) and Bailie Stypa (Rumson) won 6th place and 10 place Top High
Score Junior Soloists. This means that their dances beat over 60 junior
soloists for these outstanding awards.
Soloists from the Senior
Division included Kimberly White, Meghan Dougherty, Cecilia Muscarella,
Jillian Haslett, and Devin Stypa, and delighted the judges with their
dance and acting skills.
Group numbers from the Kathryn
Barnett Traveling Troupe scored extremely well with their Jazz, Tap, and
Lyrical Dances. Lyrical Dance “Angels” and “Do I make you Proud” brought
audience members to tears with their emotional depiction of the dance
themes.
